TEFL (TEACHING ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE)

After I gruaduated from High school, I decided I wanted to be an English teacher. During my whole life the subject had changed from time to time, from primary school teacher, to Biology teacher, to Chemistry teacher to English teacher and finally Chinese teacher. When I graduated from High school I wanted to become an English teacher, already in China at that them. So I signed up for an international English teaching program, called, IDEE (International Degree English Education), in Amsterdam. I planned to become a primary school or kindergarten English teacher in China. At the time, I was already studying Chinese at Chinese college, each Tuesday evening for 2 years.

However after participating in the IDEE program for half a year, I realised that I did not enjoy this road to finding my dream job. Even though my results were good, I didn't enjoy the teaching methods, some subjects didn't feel to contribute to realising my goal, and my interest in Chinese really overpowered my interest in English, therefore I decided to quit.

I wasn´t planning to do nothing for half year, so I worked 25 hours a week at ´t Kikkerfort, and I participated in the online TEFL course, to learn teaching English more focussed on an international environment and practical teaching skills. During this course I also took some extra online classes to specialize at young learners and one to one teaching.
