My first book: The little dragon

De Kleine Draak (The little dragon) is the only book I have finished writing so far. This is because somehow this book was just very easy to write. First of all, its a short story, about 80 pages long. So it doesn't take as much time to write as the other book I am working on, which is at about 200 pages long now, and only reached about 40% of the plotline.
Second is that I wrote this book on the train. Every chapter is about 300 words long, which is just long enough to complete during a trip from Maarssen to Amsterdam. Since taking the train to work was an inavitable part of my daily routine with not much to do there anyway, I didn't need to make time to write the book, time was just there.
And lastly, since The little dragon is a short story, with short and powerfull chapters that never lose moving the plotline out of sight, the story is full of action, which is very nice to read, but also very nice to write.
What might have also been an important factor that kept me driven to write is story, is that the story isn't just about dragons, which are just very amazing creatures and make it hard to write something stupid. But the story also has a strong moral value, which I really support.
The story is about accepting anyone for who they are. We all act the way we do for a reason, which are without a doubt the right reasons to us, eventhough they might seem wrong to others. Once someone is seen as evil, it is so easy to just give in.
The little dragon tries to fight against his evil nature, but discovers that even love causes him and also others great pain and deep regrets, as doing the right thing sometimes just seems impossible.
Readers have also highly rated this book with a total of 800+ votes on wattpad, and it has been added to the fantasy project recommended reading list.
