Struggle of being an original writer

Sometimes you feel you came up with a great idea, which really turns out to be a great idea. The only problem is that you do have to be the first to come up with it, or you're idea will just seem like a copy. In the end, what is the use of making something that has been made already? Especially if someone else's execution of the idea is better than your own.
I have always loved writing and started writing in the time that I would need to set the computer to 365 colours in order to use a special writing software for little children. I remember mainly writing about a wizards school, which I often dreamed about. At that time Harry Potter didn't excist yet, but now I feel writing another book about a wizards school isn't the most creative thing to do anymore.
Next I decided writing a book called. 'Fei lost in fairytale land' which combined a lot of fairytales together in a funny way. Not much later I started watching the series "Once upon a time" and gave up on this idea as well...
Then, about a year ago I got interested in the concept of immortality and its concequeses. Doing some research about immortality I came across the island Tir na nOg on wikipedia, where the immortal Irish gods lived, and where the legend of Niamh and Oisin took place. I was very excited to write a book inspired by this infamous Irish legend and started developing several plots. A few drafts and months later I heard Celtic women came with a new song, guess what this song was about? Tir na nOg. Since Celtic women isn't that popular I decided it didn't matter and it was pretty cool, if anyone would think my book is a fanfiction based on a song, then so be it... Still seems pretty creative to me. But when I started uploading my book to wattpad, I almost got a heart attack when someone told me she just realised my book was a fanction of a book called Iron Fey, which untill then I had never heard of. I haven't read the book yet, but I believe this writer just happend to use the name Tir na nOg for a certain island, which is habbited by evil winter creatures and really has nothing to do with the original Tir na nOg from irish legends.
I also can't bare to hear that my main character is quite similar to Katnis from the hunger games, which I have neither watched or read. But I guess thats what you get if you give a strong and independent women a bow and arrow. Maybe I'll rewrite it and change her weapon just to avoid people thinking I am copying the Hungergames So far I still dare to call my book an original concept and thats all I need to keep on writing. But if the next bestsellers are really going to be based on Irish legends, I'll probably just delete the whole book and cry somewhere in a corner. Giving up on my dream to write my very own story, creative and original, that could come up in my mind only...
