WHAT'S A WATCH

I have bought some litature and watched some movies about watches to broaden my knowledge. Turns out there can be quite some differences between watches, which are quite complex to understand. It hard to find out what I am supposed to know when selling a watch, and what I only need to know if I where to build a watch. As far as I can understand now, I know 3 types of watches. One is the mechanical watch, which needs to be winded by spinning the crown on the watch. When feeling resistance, one should stop spinning, however I have also read that springs are made of such strong materials, it is impossible to break the spring by just spinning the crown. Second is an automatic watch, which is quite similar to the mechanical watch, since they both do not need a battery to be powered. The difference is that the automatic watch as a rotor blade in the back, which charches the battery when the watch wearer moves his or her arm. However this only gives a little bit of power, so it is wise to still charge the watch by spinning the crown every once in a while. When spinning the crown of an automatic watch one should never feel resistance, as the spring will be disconnected when fully winded. Other than the previous mentioned types, the Quartz watch does not originate from Switzerland, but from Japan. A Quartz watch is charched by a battery, which will generally needs to be replaced every 3 to 5 years. Because the watch is simply powered by electricity, and not a winded spring, Quartz watches show time more accurately than automatic and mechanical watches, as the mechanics are not influences by environmental circumstances, such as gravity and temprature. Generally Quartz watches are also cheaper, because they are easy to produce in mass manufactury.
